Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary:
Plans, directs, coordinates, and improves manufacturing processes in an industrial plant by performing the following duties.
Essential duties:
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing operations, to include but not limited to fixturing, tooling and methods.
- Develops new processes and implements new equipment. Performs new equipment qualification and validation.
- Identifies deficiencies & implements Lean Sigma principles in all aspects of the manufacturing environment.
- Identify and solve related manufacturing problems. Responds in a timely manner to manufacturing problems and operates with a sense of urgency when required. Works extra hours when required.
- Develop, setup, and implementation new machine documentation to achieve the organizational performance, production and financial objectives.
- Aids or leads in the development of Capital Equipment Justification proposals and implementations of new equipment for manufacturing facility, as required.
- Technical resource for all facts of the machine shop operations. Familiar with setup, operation, programming, tooling, and processes for screw machines and CNC machines.
- Analyzes and plans work force space requirements, workflow, ergonomics, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly and design staff concerning product design quality planning, and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods.
- Confers with vendors to determine tooling specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specification and quality standards.
- Estimates production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Performs time studies to create or improve standard work instructions and manufacturing line balancing.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Maintains positive working relationships with manufacturing personnel and other staff members in order to support a positive workplace environment.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Develops, evaluates, improves set up methods and reduces set up times.
- Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing costs. Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing wastes.
- Creates and maintains accurate work instructions and visual aids for use in the manufacturing cells.
- Performs limited maintenance on assembly tooling and equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in related field with 3-5 years/ or 10 year experience in related field.
- Specific procedural training identified in the Job Function Element Master List
- Green/black Belt preferred
- Shanin problem solving for manufacturing a plus
- Skills: Microsoft Office? Auto Cad
- Familiarity with Project management
- CAD/CAM preferred.
- SolidWorks preferred
- Must be able to visualize manufacturing operations and potential problems that may arise
- General Math, Trigonometry & Algebra
- Basic understanding of statistics desired
Compensation details: 75000-95000 Yearly Salary
