Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., is looking for a Trade Compliance Advisor to join our US Customs Brokerage division.
Location : NY City area, Garden City Rouses Point, Buffalo
This person provides exceptional Customs Consulting Services to customers while ensuring compliance with Customs and trade regulations, corporate policies, standards and values. Processes and files drawback claims received from clients. Works with participating and prospective clients to maintain their respective Drawback programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and counsel to our Importer customers with regards to their Customs and trade practices.
- Resolve customer complaints and disputes in an effective and timely manner (tariff classification, claims, etc.).
- Conduct research pertaining to Customs regulatory issues.
- Conduct research and provide proper opinion for classification and tariff treatment; update and maintain customer product profiles.
- Support management with continuous improvement initiatives and audit preparation.
- Work with participating and prospective clients to maintain/enhance their Drawback initiatives, such as Waivers of Prior Notice (Past and Future) and Accelerated Payment.
- Coordinate export of merchandise under Drawback, including arranging for inspection or destruction under Customs’ supervision.
- Audit of drawback entries prior to final submission.
- Provide support and consulting for Drawback audits (Desk Review).
- Individual assignments may also include but are not limited to:
- PGA consulting and profiling (APHIS, CPSC, FDA, FWS, etc)
- Post summary corrections
- 520(d) NAFTA claims
- 514 Protests
- Superseding bonds
- Standard CF28/CF29 audits
- USMCA & TPL Audits via CF28
- Increased duty bill processing
- Reconciliation submissions
- Temporary Import Bonds & NAFTA Duty Deferral
- Consulting and resolution of
- Seizure and detention notices
- Marking Notices
- Preparation of binding ruling requests
- Mock audit
- Support Prior Disclosure initiatives
What you Bring:
- Completion of University degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to multitask; very organized, high degree of analytical skills.
- Candidate must have excellent writing skills.
- 3+ years of comparable Customs Operations experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations and United States Code.
- Must have strong classification and appraisement skills, having 2 or more years’ experience in this area.
- Thorough understanding of International Business and trading practices.
- Strong research skills & a natural problem solver.
- Ability to negotiate and build strong trade relationships.
- Proficient in leveraging advanced features of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customs clearance experience a plus.

Rouses Point, NY : $54,000_$70,000
New York City greater area: $58,000 - $75,000
