Connolly Gallagher LLP’s Newark Delaware office is soliciting applications for a paralegal for its government, landlord/tenant, construction and general practice group. This position would entail a diverse range of administrative and substantive responsibilities including, but not limited to, litigation support, e-filing, transactional support, government representation (including land use board representation and appellate presentations in administrative hearings), among other responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and a self-starter mentality are a must. This position is primarily an “in the office” position, although remote work capability will be required for a period of several months due to upcoming office renovations. This position’s responsibilities include:
· Working collaboratively with attorneys and other support staff on an array of different types of litigation related matters in all Delaware state courts, federal courts and appellate courts; including the preparation, management and organization of correspondence, documents, discovery, pleadings and other filings, and deposition and trial logistics;
· Assisting with legal and factual research on a variety of litigation, transactional, and state and local governance matters;
· Assisting in the management of transactions and contracts;
· Staying up to date on applicable legal procedures, rules, and regulations;
· Assistance with administrative proceedings, governmental presentations, and briefing (including cite checking);
· Coordination of the needs and projects of governmental clients and entities;
· Contact with clients or potential clients for client intake or scheduling purposes as well as with outside attorneys for scheduling purposes; and
· Must be flexible in work routine.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
· Excellent communication, written and verbal skills, positive attitude, dependability, good judgment and initiative;
· Knowledgeable on automated support systems;
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
· Ability to deal with interruptions and multiple matters;
· Ability to work in a team environment;
· Litigation and E-filing (for example, File & Serve, Pacer, and CM/ECF) experience preferred, but not required;
· Commitment to excellence; and
· Associates degree or paralegal certificate (preferred).
