Senior IT Specialist
Overview
The Senior IT Specialist will be a key resource to the company, supporting the day-to-day operations of information technology (IT) at 24M, troubleshooting issues, maintaining IT inventory, and leading projects to improve processes and security within an organization. Strong interpersonal skills are required, as are a strong work ethic and an ability to flourish in a dynamic environment. This role will report to the Plant Manager, in the USA and be required to work onsite in our Boston office.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and implement IT actions based on strategic direction from the US office.
- Report back to the US office on progress and issues.
- Maintain procedures and reports that provide technical support to the entire organization.
- As part of the internal IT team, provide coverage of:
- first and second level end-user technical support
- support of hardware/network/software
- installing, configuring, and maintaining server systems (e.g., VMware, Windows server, Hyper-V, SQL), software, and computer systems
- basic network service operations
- maintaining IT equipment
- Configure and maintain firewalls to Industry best practices.
- Perform network modifications and configurations for switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Prepare summary reports of network operations and server health.
- Monitor network performance and uptime, make recommendations to improve both.
- As needed, provide standby support and join calls outside of business hours.
- Other IT administrative tasks as needed.
- Make recommendations and implement solutions to improve IT processes and systems.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification: Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong English skills, both verbal and written
- Desire to expand skillset towards managing higher-level tasks (sysadmin, network admin, etc.)
- Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
- Proven ability and willingness to solve complicated problems and see projects through to completion
- Proven ability to assess problems, make decisions independently, and communicate upward appropriately
- Team-player with a positive attitude
- People-oriented mindset with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to interact professionally and confidently with individuals at all levels within the organization
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple different projects at the same time.
- Technical skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft tools (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of Hyper-v, Windows Server, SQL required
- Linux knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) a plus
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
8-10 years’ experience in IT support.
