Title: Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead projects involving the testing and development of electrical components for valves.
• Design products to meet industry and agency standards (UL, CSA, European standards).
• Prepare and document design studies, trade studies, failure analyses, and test programs.
• Adequately simulate electromagnetic systems for the design process of solenoid activated valves.
• Assemble prototypes and conduct tests as needed.
• Develop and specify wiring assemblies, power supplies, PCBAs, and control modules for electronically controlled equipment.
• Programming of control systems for electronically controlled equipment.
• Evaluate field problems and recommend design enhancements.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and troubleshoot production issues.
• Coordinate design and engineering documentation releases with other departments.
• Manage projects, ensuring schedules are maintained and deadlines met.
• Explore new methods to expedite time to market and improve the New Product Development process.
• Work with suppliers to address issues, review new products, and approve production samples.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Masters Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, a plus.
• 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment, designing and developing electromagnetic devices while interacting with cross-functional departments; sustaining engineering (experience with solenoids and valves is a plus).
• Minimum of five years’ experience reading and creating electrical drawings and schematics.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical principles.
• Proficiency in CAD systems (Solidworks preferred).
• Proficiency in engineering simulation software (EM Works preferred).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn-by-doing to tackle challenging problems.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experience preparing FMEDA reports associated with Functional Safety directives.
• Coordination of activities related to ISO documentation, such as FMEA and SWOT analyses.
• Familiarity with North American or European industry standards (UL, CSA, ATEX, IECEX, etc.).
• Familiarity with fieldbus protocols and use (EtherCAT, Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, etc.).
• Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) and data analysis.
• Hands-on experience with the use and programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for industrial automation and control systems preferred.
