The primary responsibility of the Collision Repair Technician is to repair damaged vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications. The Body Shop Technician should achieve this goal by maintaining a quality and performance-oriented environment while ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Role and Responsibilities- Thoroughly inspect damaged vehicles to assess the extent of the damage and develop a repair plan.
- Repair damaged body parts by using specialized tools and techniques such as welding, dent removal, fiberglass repair,, and panel replacement. Replace parts that are beyond repair.
- Ensure the vehicles frame or structure is properly aligned using computer measuring or mechanical measuring systems and hydraulic equipment.
- Prepare the surfaces of repaired or replaced parts for painting by masking, sanding, filling, and priming.
- Color Matching existing paint.
- Painting and coating repaired damage
- Conduct thorough inspections to ensure that repairs meet industry standards and customers’
- expectations. Make any necessary adjustments or corrections.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and any additional services provided. Complete all required documentation and reports.
- Perform regular maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Efficiently manage time to complete repairs with anticipated production level of 80 percent or higher as established by industry standard estimating systems while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure repairs are performed accurately, following repair plans and industry guidelines to maintain high quality standards.
- Coordinate with other team members such as estimators, parts personnel, and painters, to streamline the repair process and avoid delays.
- Interact with customers in a in a professional and courteous manner, addressing any concerns and keeping them informed about any concerns and keeping them informed about the progress of their repairs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize workplace accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials.
- Reports any deviations to management.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Experience:
1-3 months related experience earned either through education or OJT
Boat fiberglass repair experience would be acceptable
