We are working with a busy, growing, top Texas law firm seeking attorneys, as follows for its various offices throughout Texas:
Houston: (a) One 5-8 yr. General Insurance Defense Attorney with trucking litigation experience (up to $145,000+ DOE); (b) One 5-8 yr. General Insurance Defense Attorney (up to $145,000+ DOE); (c) One 4-8 yr Construction Defect Attorney (up to $145,000+ DOE)
Austin: (a) One 4-8 yr Construction Defect Attorney (up to $145,000+ DOE); (b) One 6-10 yr General Insurance Defense Attorney (up to $145,000+ DOE)
San Antonio: (a) One 4+ yr. Personal Injury/Transportation Defense Attorney (up to $145,000+ DOE)
Any Office: Anyone with a defense side practice and book of business over $300,000. The firm is inviting new practice groups both to enhance existing areas of expertise and to establish new ones. Base salary is negotiable depending upon the size of the book.

Successful candidates for all positions will have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities for the insurance defense and trucking litigation positions will include management of an active case load throughout Texas. The attorneys will manage reporting to the client and insureds; coordinate with expert witnesses when appropriate; draft and respond to discovery; prepare clients and others for depositions; take depositions; prepare for hearings and appear at them; draft pleadings and motions; and prepare for trials and attend them. Salary for insurance defense and trucking litigation positions is up to $145,000+ (depending upon position and experience). The firm offers a great bonus plan and a 401(k) plan with an employer match, over and above base salary, as part of its compensation package. The positions are in-office with a work from home schedule after sixty (60) days. Candidates must be active members of the Texas bar in good standing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES GENERALLY
- Maintain client satisfaction by means including prompt communication before, during and after cases.
- Conduct discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, trials, arbitrations, administrative proceedings and similar proceedings, as required.
- Research the law applicable to cases or matters; draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions, as required.
- Remain current with developments in the law.
- Conduct settlement negotiations, as necessary and appropriate.
- Effectively communicate and persuade using written and verbal skills.
- Bill 1,920 hours annually.
- Meet all deadlines in a timely manner, providing completed work product to the supervising attorney, sufficiently in advance of any deadline, to allow constructive discussion.
EXPERIENCE
- Litigation experience: 4+ yrs (exact experience level depends upon position)
- Construction Defect (preferred; required only for designated positions)
- Personal Injury/Wrongful Death (preferred)
- Transportation/Trucking (preferred; required only for designated positions)
- Computer and software proficiency required
LICENSE
- Active member of the State Bar of Texas or sitting for upcoming Bar (Required)
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
- This is an indoor office environment and may require sitting and utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
- May be required to move items up to 20 pounds.
- Overtime may be required to complete certain projects and meet deadlines.

- Some travel to inspection sites, depositions, trials, arbitrations, and other events likely will be required.
