Protein Buyer
An established and thriving food/beverage company is looking to add a dynamic Food Buyer to their team. Reporting to the Category Manager and working closely with the Vice President of Purchasing, this position requires a strong understanding of procurement and inventory management.

Focus:
- Accurately forecast and order protein products to meet demand while minimizing losses on perishable items.
- Secure the best possible costs, quality, and service from suppliers.
- Ensure adherence to established company policies and procedures.
- Achieve inventory turnover goals while maintaining high service levels and minimizing product distress.
- Collaborate with various departments and team members to fulfill job responsibilities effectively.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, store operations, distribution centers, and internal teams.
- Monitor and review acquisition costs to ensure competitive pricing, considering quality, reliability, and urgency.
- Assess inventory levels, market trends, and promotional impacts to recommend order quantities and strategies.
- Conduct post-promotional reviews to assess success and address any issues.
- Resolve inventory-related issues at the store level and ensure smooth order processing.
- Regularly review and analyze reports to track costs, quality, service levels, and inventory performance, making adjustments as necessary.
- Conduct store visits to monitor program effectiveness and gather feedback.
- Manage Accounts Payable variance processes to ensure accurate pricing and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain organized department files and records.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Operations to ensure timely product flow through the facility.
Skill Set:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Purchasing or Vendor Management, preferably in a perishable goods category.
- Comprehensive knowledge of procurement, logistics, inventory control, marketing, accounting, and financial processes.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective business relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
