You have 5-10 years of experience in a pivotal role within a company's operations, responsible for orchestrating the development, implementation, and management of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs at multiple locations. You embody the qualities of a coach and mentor, guiding your team towards excellence while fostering individual growth and skill development. You are adept at implementing process improvements and constantly seeking innovative ways to enhance EHS performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Your experience in driving significant growth is reflected in your strategic approach to managing EHS programs, minimizing risks, and maximizing operational safety and environmental stewardship. Your leadership style is dynamic and growth-minded, inspiring a team to embrace change, adapt to evolving industry standards, and continuously improve. You are adept at creating a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to contribute ideas and take ownership of their responsibilities. In summary, you are an experienced EHS Manager who has not only been responsible for overseeing EHS operations but also served as a catalyst for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and innovation within the team.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced North American Safety Director to oversee the development, implementation, and management of our EHS programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful EHS management, excellent leadership skills, and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management. The North American Safety Director will play a crucial role in optimizing processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible work environment.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Program Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize risks.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate a team of EHS professionals, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of EHS staff.
- Set performance goals and conduct performance evaluations for EHS team members.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant EHS regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Stay updated on changes to EHS regulations and implement necessary adjustments to company policies and procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and maintain positive working relationships.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential EHS risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Implement and maintain robust incident reporting and investigation processes.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
Environmental Stewardship:
- Develop and implement environmental sustainability initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
- Monitor and manage waste disposal, recycling, and resource conservation programs.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote environmental awareness and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in EHS management, with a minimum of 5-10 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of EHS regulations and risk management principles.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in EHS management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
