About the Role
As a Hardware/Quality Assurance Sustaining Engineer, you will be responsible for validating the performance of server electronics, mechanicals, and user documentation against Product Requirements Document (PRD).
Responsibilities
- Validates the performance of server electronics, mechanicals, and user documentation against Product Requirements Document (PRD).
- Validate features and performance using accelerated stress and margining test techniques.
- Define life test strategies and oversee testing.
- Defines the test strategies for the qualification of server components including but not limited to disk drives, peripheral cards, and memory.
- Releases components for use in new and existing designs. Creates documentation where required. Writes ECO’s.
- Support the validation and documentation of prototype platforms for use by customers in early stage evaluations.
- Performs failure analysis to route cause on field returns and manufacturing yield issues. Works with suppliers when required to obtain results. Implements engineering corrective actions when needed.
- Participate in the Change Control Board for review and signoff of ECOs.
- Learn about company’s business as appropriate. Shows up to work on time and attends work as scheduled.
- All other duties as requested by supervisor or department head.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent, plus 3-5 years direct industry experience.
Required Skills
- Proficient in use of MS office.
- Ability to coordinate with a team of engineers for appropriate test strategies.
- Use of Windows and Linux OS operating in a server environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the use of standardized computer server test software.
- Experience in the debug of electrical systems comprised of high speed digital and analog power subsystems.
- Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Bus Analyzers.
- Communication Analyzers; Ethernet, Fiber Channel, USB, SCSI/iSCSI.
- Knowledge of PC based server systems, their architectures and the various peripheral components.
- Server class processors and chipsets; Intel Pentium, Xeon; AMD Celeron, Opteron.
- Interface and bus standards; ATA/SATA, SCSI/Ultra SCSI/iSCSI, Ethernet, Fiber Channel, USB and RS232.
- Server Components, Hard Disk Drives; IDE, PATA, SATA, SCSI/uSCSI, Network Interface Cards, Bus Extenders, RAID Controllers.
- Ability to generate accurate and thorough test plans.
- Ability to document, track test progress and work independently.
- Knowledge of CAE/CAD tools for creating and/or reviewing schematics and board layouts.
- Ability to follow all applicable Business Management System (BMS) processes.
