General PurposeLead development and defense of Company’s Net Power Costs (NPC) inputs in all relevant filings and proceedings. Provide technical leadership and oversight over NPC production modeling and forecasting work. Provide leadership in overall group to enhance efficient and sustainable resource usage and to continuously increase knowledge and skill base of group’s technical, analytic and/or modeling staff.
Responsibilities of this position include the following:- Direct the development of net power cost reporting, net power cost analysis, and modeling to include the simulation of the Company's loads and resources over a variety of system conditions.
- Prepare and defend net power cost regulatory filings, including general rate cases, transition adjustment mechanisms, power cost adjustment mechanisms, and avoided cost filings in written format as well as a witness.
- Make presentations and represent PacifiCorp to regulators and other external stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership regarding use, design and process of using and optimizing use of production cost models in a way that increases efficiency, standardization and reliability of the model inputs, outputs and related analyses.
- Coordinate with other company departments to ensure consistent practices for production cost modeling.
- Design and guide the development of new models and or modeling techniques to simulate the company's resources and development of models for special projects.
- Work with management to establish schedules and appropriate timelines for review of net power cost results, exposure analysis, and strategy.
- Prepare and review responses to discovery requests.
- Provide mentorship to modeling staff, define and promote adoption of best practices, as well as ensure processes are documented to ensure efficient resource management
- Analyze the impact of changes to modeling inputs and support changes to department management.
- Collaborate with other Leads in the team to provide efficient management, promote cross-training and efficient resource management.
Requirements for this position include the following:- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in revenue requirement preparation, net power cost simulation modeling, cost of service analysis, pricing analysis or related analytical experience.
- Requires a complete understanding of the company’s resource system including transmission systems and constraints, thermal resources, reserve requirements, resource availability determination, resource commitment logic and dispatch, fuel costs, portfolio of complex wholesale sales and purchase contracts, risk management and mitigation.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions.
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means.
Preferences- Advanced degree in related field.
