Senior Electrical Engineer ( E.I.T or PE ) Princeton New Jersey
Role and Responsibilities
Seeking an Electrical Engineer with a proven interest in building design and sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals.
The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.
- Prepare electrical Construction Documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings.
- Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems.
- Ensure design is consistent with the overall vision, and design schedules are maintained; work closely with the client and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
- Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
- Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
- Report writing and specification preparation.
- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
- Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
- Manage a project, work area or technical skill set, monitor quality of work, and is involved in client liaison.
- Assist in the procurement of work; manage multi-disciplinary project teams including client relations and team motivation.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
- Minimum of 6 years professional experience in designing electrical systems for Lab and Healthcare projects.
- Strong Revit capabilities.
- PE license, or desire to obtain license; LEED Accreditation desirable.
- Previous electrical design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
- Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code, and the International Building Codes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
- Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas verbally and in writing.in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
