Who we are
Dreamzilla is a California-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote neurodiversity and offer support and encouragement for neurodivergent people to follow their passions, cultivate their unique talents and become their “biggest, baddest selves.” Dreamzilla was founded by Kyle Loh, an autistic race car driver, to help others in the neurodivergent community realize their dreams and unleash their gargantuan talents into the world.
What we need (Core Responsibilities)
We are seeking an experienced Outreach & Events Coordinator to help us debut the Dreamzilla Sensory Oasis – a unique, traveling experience dedicated to celebrating and promoting neurodiversity by creating an inclusive environment where individuals of all neurotypes can thrive. With our founder’s heritage being in motorsports, our initial events will be held alongside professional racing series throughout the United States. Racing paddocks are known to be a noisy and hectic environment, and the Dreamzilla Sensory Oasis will be a sanctuary for any attendees looking for a place to decompress and self-regulate. As an outreach / events coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to plan, execute, and manage the Dreamzilla Sensory Oasis. You will play a vital role in proactive outreach to partners including local charities and sponsoring corporations, and you will play a hands-on role in supporting the activities at each race event. Your ability to build strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and potential collaborators will be essential in this role, and will help Dreamzilla grow from a small startup to an influential and successful national organization.
Key Duties Include:
- Event Planning: Coordinate and oversee the planning, logistics, and execution of events, including sensory-safe paddock tours at professional sports car racing events, awareness-building presentations that promote neurodiversity for schools and corporate events, and other outreach activities.
- Outreach Strategy: Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage with the target audience, increase awareness of our organization's mission, and attract new sponsors or supporters.
- Partnership Development: Research local community organizations to promote and invite attendees to events. Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, and relevant stakeholders to establish collaborations and enhance outreach efforts.
- Day-of-event Activation: Partner with agencies and/or content creators to produce compelling and timely media from events to be posted on our social platforms. Engage with followers as the “on the ground” voice at the events, and share updates about our organization's initiatives.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for events, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Public Relations: Act as a spokesperson for our organization during events and outreach activities, maintaining a positive and professional image centered around celebrating neurodiversity and inclusion.
Who you are (Key Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in event planning, outreach, or community engagement roles.
- Passionate about and committed to helping others achieve their dreams.
- Experience working with the neurodivergent community, such as Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Tourette, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, etc.
- Firmly committed to promoting inclusion and diversity, in the workplace and in the field.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital marketing tools for outreach purposes.
- Attention to detail and ability to think creatively to develop innovative outreach strategies.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Exude positivity, patience and professionalism.
- Familiar with Google Workspace suite of apps and proficient with Slack best practices.
