Job Description:
- Under the guidance of the Lead Infrastructural Support Engineer, the agency contractor will serve as a system & database administrator for the uAchieve Degree Audit Implementation project, which is part of the campus-wide Student Information System Upgrade initiative.
- They will be responsible for infrastructure stabilization, providing quality assurance, and collaborating with other software developers, database developers and system engineers to integrate uAchieve application data into Advising Technology applications.
- They will be expected to have extensive experience with enterprise-level applications and complex databases.
Essential Responsibilities:
- 70% APPLICATION INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT Provide support for mission-critical infrastructure that supports undergraduate education applications, core campus systems integrations, standalone systems and data feeds. Provide support of Windows and Linux Servers, Active Directory, database systems, application integrations, networking and firewall configuration.
- 20% APPLICATION SUPPORT Provide technical support for the Online Advising Student Information (OASIS) suite of web applications in addition to cloud-hosted degree auditing software, such as uachieve and Degree Works. Provide Tier 1 support by engaging users in the investigation and documentation of reported issues and coordinating issue resolution.
- 10% CYBER-SAFETY Ensure systems adhere to UC IS-3 policy and UC Davis Cyber Security requirements. Provide stewardship of student data protected under multiple federal laws. Participate in continuous quality improvement management initiatives. Effectively, efficiently and independently identify and communicate technical challenges and solutions for use in the unit and in support of undergraduate education.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA)* and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). *(Previous FERPA experience is not necessary; we will require the candidate selected for hire to complete our standard FERPA training).
- Experience administering Intel-based server hardware with Microsoft Windows server operating systems. Experience with virtualization.
- Experience administering Windows- and Linux -based server software such as web servers, database servers, application servers and use of Active Directory, CAS and SAML identity providers.
- Experience with modern network systems, using various platforms and integrations of multiple third-party software solutions, in a large complex network environment.
- Experience with database management and writing SQL queries in T-SQL, LINQ and PL/SQL.
- Experience implementing data migration projects from complex database systems and data warehouses.
- Experience with database modeling and query optimization.
- Knowledge and understanding of the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process.
- Knowledge of data security best practices.
- Analytical skills to evaluate current business processes and to develop automated solutions to enhance the data management functions of current processes.
- Writing skills to develop technical and operational manuals.

- Experience with managing & deploying ASP.NET web applications using IIS.
- Experience implementing an ETL solution using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Data Lake and Azure Data Factory.
- Experience using DevOps pipelines and the Azure stack.
- Experience in Agile methodology.
