About this position
The business development manager plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and sustainability of our organization through the establishment and management of strategic partnerships. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion for social impact, strong business acumen and exceptional relationship-building skills.
What you'll be doing
1. Contracts and growth opportunities:
- In partnership with the contracts and grants manager, developing plans to maximize and expand current program contracts;
- Exploring new services and programs aligned to the organization's mission and responsive to community needs;
2. Partnership development:
- Identifying, cultivating, and securing strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, government agencies, and other nonprofits aligned with the mission and goals of the organization;
- Developing a deep understanding of potential partners' needs and priorities to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
3. Relationship management and collaboration:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective business partners, nurturing relationships and ensuring high levels of satisfaction;
- Collaborating with internal teams to leverage partnerships for maximum impact, including program development, fundraising initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration across departments, ensuring alignment and coordination in partnership activities;
4. Contract negotiation and management:
- Negotiating partnership agreements and contracts, ensuring clear terms and expectations for both parties;
- Monitoring and evaluating partnership performance, tracking key metrics and outcomes to assess impact and inform future strategies.
5. Communication:
- Communicating regularly with internal stakeholders to provide updates on partnership activities, successes, and challenges.
- Providing ongoing analysis and recommendations on business development opportunities.
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field;
- Proven experience in partnership development, business development, or related field, preferably within the education or nonprofit sector;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders;
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a track record of achieving goals and driving impact;
- Knowledge of child development, early childhood education, or related fields;
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

Job specifications
- Reports to the vice president of strategic initiatives;
- Exempt, full-time, year-round;
- Eight-hour workday, four-day workweek;
- Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule with approval by supervisor;
- Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;
- Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization's contracts, or at organization discretion.
Salary
- $95,000 - $115,000 per year
