Position Overview:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs, as well as the ability to analyze project specifications and drawings to determine the overall cost of a project. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop comprehensive project estimates.
- Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering solutions to enhance project profitability.
- Maintain and update cost databases, including historical cost data and current market trends.
- Prepare and present estimates to management, clients, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Monitor project costs during construction and provide regular updates to project managers and clients.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids for new projects.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the commercial or residential sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
