The Product Manager is one half of a team (with a Product Owner) responsible for defining new product feature enhancements, planning and directing activities to ensure the timely development and delivery of reliable and efficient solutions to business requirements, and developing acceptance criteria to validate that the resulting product meets initial requirements. This position is primarily focused on the market, sales, customer, feature definition and forecasting side of the product management organization. They define the product to fit the market need, forecast anticipated revenue, act as the customer's proxy, accept a product from product owners as the final step in delivery and adjudicate bug queues both to prioritize and to ensure they are not unsupported features. Great product managers can come from a variety of background, but they tend more often to be of a technical background with marketing focused MBAs.
The satellite industry is continuing to evolve with higher throughput satellites with dynamic payloads in the GEO, MEO, and LEO orbits. This once relatively insular industry is also undergoing convergence with the terrestrial telecom space. The new generation of products will be increasingly standard-based and software and cloud driven. ST Engineering iDirect continues its market leadership with new developments in its portfolio of virtualized software systems and high-performance appliances to drive the industry forward. Technology focus will include cloud-enabled architecture, platform security, multi-orbit operations, MEF and 5G standard compliance and end-to-end service orchestration.
