West Power Energy (WPE) is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, with a primary specialization in power generation, transmission, and distribution. West Power Energy is looking for an AutoCAD Drafting Technician (Part-Time) to join our team in our San Diego / California Office. The successful candidate will report directly to the Engineering Manager and take direction from senior engineers.
Job Description
The primary duties include:
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to design and draft, different drawings and maps for construction projects
- Drafting will primarily include civil and electrical-related drawings for transmission, distribution, and substation projects
- Create and modify drawings from engineer-provided markups
- Produce work/plan redline markup and comments
- Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of one’s work
- Work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Interact and work together with other teams to provide integrated services and support
- Preparation of design packages including plotting, printing, and submittals
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Autodesk AutoCAD Design Experience (2D and 3D) is required.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Inventor, and/or ArcGIS software is an asset
- Certification in Drafting/Design/CAD or currently pursuing a degree in a related field or associate degree in related field is strongly preferred
- 3+ year experience with AutoCAD 2016+
- Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures
- Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Experience with Substations, Transmission, Civil Engineering or other related projects is an asset
This position's base salary range approximation is $25-$30 per hour, depending on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
