Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technologist to join our Operations Technology team as a Principal Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of middle and back-office processes within the financial services industry and possess advanced technical expertise. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation, enhancement, and integration of our middle and back-office systems, supporting our trading, risk management, and operations teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain middle and back-office systems to ensure they meet business requirements.
- Implement enhancements and upgrades to existing systems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Collaborate with middle and back-office operations, risk, fund accounting, compliance, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Provide second and third-level support for middle and back-office systems, diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly.
- Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential system issues.
- Lead technical projects from inception through to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in middle and back-office technology roles within the financial services industry.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Java, SQL), database management, and system integration.
- In-depth knowledge of middle and back-office processes, including trade settlement, reconciliation, risk management, fund accounting, regulatory reporting, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Highly motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with Columnar Databases is a plus.
Salary Range:
The expected base salary for this New York, New York based position is $125,000 - $250,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
