Our client, The City of Inglewood, Southern California’s newest sports and entertainment center, and gateway to the vibrant South Bay region of Los Angeles County, is seeking a City Attorney to join Inglewood’s executive leadership team. Incorporated in the late 19th century, the city is a full service, charter city serving a vibrant, socio-economically diverse community. Inglewood boasts of a multicultural population (110,000), a mild climate and a central location making it a great place to live, work and/or visit.
The city operates under a council-manager form of government. The City Attorney, under the direction of the Mayor, reports to the City Council, is the legal counsel for the city and advises the City Council, boards, commissions, and City staff. The City Attorney’s Office consists of a team of 16 and has an $8,597 million annual budget.
The city is seeking a hands-on, “working” City Attorney of impeccable reputation, who possesses a high level of expertise in municipal law with a track record of delivering sound legal advice regarding contractual, regulatory and litigation issues. An engaging and energetic leader with a strong willingness to exercise independent judgement and initiative would be the perfect for this chief legal position.
Successful candidates will possess at least 10 years progressively responsible experience in the practice of law, with at least 5 years of comparable experience in a public law senior management position. A juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the State Bar of California with admission to practice before the State of California and federal courts is required.
