The QA Supervisor is specifically responsible for ensuring the following:
- Training requirements are defined for all positions related to food safety and quality within his/her area of responsibility.
- Direct reports are trained to complete work assignments, evaluated for effectiveness, and documented, and deemed competent to perform their jobs. When gaps are identified immediate corrective action must be taken. This includes retraining, coaching, and/or disciplinary actions - which must be documented.
- Work assignments are communicated to associates.
- Where the assistance of external experts is required for the development, implementation, operation, or assessment of food safety within his/her area of responsibility, records of agreement or contracts defining the responsibility and authority of the external experts are maintained, as well as records of appropriate education, training, skills and experience.
- New hire orientation is conducted, and a training matrix is developed for each area of responsibility.
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, HACCP, facility security, visitor policy and mandatory safety training. Some additional items will include: GLP's, Equipment Calibration, Hold/Release, QRT, and Food Safety Incident reporting.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
The 2nd shift QA Supervisor is responsible for developing, administering, and maintaining Food Safety and Quality programs that assure the production of high quality, safe products.
Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:
- Supervise the on-line quality assurance technicians to assure compliance to all company, customer quality, and food safety requirements.
- Effectively coach and drive performance improvements of QA Assistant Supervisors, QA Technicians, and Raw Material Inspectors.
- Address performance issues of QA personnel using Fresh Express HR guidelines.
- Audit compliance to food safety requirements.
- Carry out root cause analysis and drive sustained improvement at the production level.
- Instill a culture of operational discipline, accuracy, and compliance.
- Prepare and conduct trainings on a range of topics (job specific or other mandatory trainings) for employees at different levels of the organization.
- Ensure that QA department employees are trained in and obey Fresh Express' safety rules while carrying out their duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of food processing
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer usage (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience with ISO 22000 or equivalent system
- Previous experience in food manufacturing
Experience:
1 to 3 years minimum experience in a Quality Assurance function
Education/Training:
B.S. in Food Science, Science or Technical Discipline or equivalent degree
