Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join our dynamic team and support our marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business intelligence, statistical analysis, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business decisions. You will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing our data infrastructure and analytics platforms. We are looking for a contractor who can quickly integrate into our team and contribute to ongoing analytics projects from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain end-to-end business intelligence solutions, including data modeling, reporting, and dashboard creation using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or other BI platforms.
- Perform complex data analysis and statistical modeling to support business decisions, using SQL, Python, VBA, and other relevant tools.
- Design, build, and manage relational databases and data warehouses, employing modern data warehousing techniques such as dimensional data modeling and ETL processes.
- Create and own key business metrics, reporting, dashboards, and financial models for various business review cycles.
- Lead and participate in recurring performance reviews with leadership teams, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as customer returns and bad debt/payments.
- Conduct analysis and benchmarking exercises to identify new business opportunities and promote best practices across operational teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and operations, to deliver actionable insights that drive business growth.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handling multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence and statistical analysis.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and VBA.
- Advanced user of BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data manipulation.
- Experience in building and managing relational databases and data warehouses.
- Expertise in modern data warehousing techniques, including dimensional data modeling and ETL processes.
- Proven experience in creating and managing metrics, reporting, dashboards, and financial models.
- Strong team player with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and geographically distributed team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, with a strong passion for processes, systems, and data mining.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts, handle ambiguity, and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional object-oriented programming languages (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Ruby).
- Prior experience with other BI tools such as OBIEE, SAP BW, Cognos, Business Objects, Hyperion, BPM, or MicroStrategy.
- A strong understanding of business insights behind the numbers, with a co-owner mindset for projects and business outcomes.
- Self-starter with the ability to proactively identify challenges, opportunities, and solutions.
- Data science expertise with machine learning experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, with fluency in English.
- Strong analytical skills, with a passion for metrics and figures, and a structured, organized approach to work.
- A strong bias for action, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Exposure to AWS and cloud-based data solutions is desired.
