LaClare Creamery is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Food Safety & Quality Manager to join our team! This position is a vital role on our team as they are responsible for the oversight of quality assurance compliance at LaClare Creamery ensuring that products meet company standards.

Reports to: Plant General Manager
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Monitor processing operations, employees, and equipment to consistently assure superior quality, world class, food safe products for our customers and consumers.
- Manage milk and cheese testing procedures and equipment, including Appendix N compliance and Charm antibiotic screening program.
- Ensure standards for product quality are met and improve company compliance, to increase “First Pass” efficiency and profitability in reducing waste.
- Review, investigate customer complaints; work to improve customer satisfaction and maintain records and trending.
- Plan, direct and coordinate quality assurance programs and formulate quality control practices and policies.
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, or stability samples.
- Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
- Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures, including data forms or spreadsheets, equipment logbooks and lab records.
- Inspect raw materials and review COA’s for compliance. Perform visual inspections of finished products.
- Analyze statistical data and recommend changes to production processes or quality controls.
- Ensure employees are aware of quality requirements and provide employees with training in GMP’s and Food Safety best practices.
- Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory submissions.
- Ensure that lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
- Identify quality problems and recommend solutions.
- Conduct frequent plant inspections and work with production supervisors on corrective and preventative actions.
- Evaluate new technologies and methods to make recommendations regarding their use.
- Write, revise, and update standard quality control operating procedures.
- Serve as a technical liaison between quality control and other departments, vendors, or contractors.
- Lead role for customer and third-party audits and regulatory inspectors.
- Documentation and Follow Up: As required by food safety program monitor and review all food safety documentation. Ensure all tasks and information are accurately completed.
- Is responsible for food safety and human safety at all facilities. Must ensure that all facilities maintain compliant with all state and federal rules and regulations.
- Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Schedule and perform any calibration checks on thermometers and measuring devices.
- Prepare and submit various monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports.
- Lead new product development efforts.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to improve quality, safety, and processes.
- Follows all policies and procedures LaClare Creamery and Lamagna Food Group have implemented regarding food and personal safety to assist in maintaining a safe work environment and safe, quality products always.

Education & Experience:
- Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or equivalent preferred
- 5 years food plant safety & quality experience required
- 3-5 years of leadership/management experience required
- PCQI, SQF, HACCP certified preferred
- Familiar with SQF, FSMA, IMS, State and Federal regulations.
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance disciplines and interaction with plant personnel and procedures.
- Understand and develop strategic environmental monitoring program.
