Position Description:
The Procurement Specialist III plays a crucial role in the success of our supply chain operations. This position is responsible for researching, identifying, and evaluating sources for products needed for client quotations, contracts, and procurement. The Specialist is tasked with locating obsolete and end-of-life products essential for defense and aerospace platforms, ensuring the seamless continuation of our projects.
In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in military and land vehicle parts procurement, including platforms such as HMMWV, M60, M109, M1A1/2, and M113. Your deep understanding of the unique requirements and specifications of these military vehicles will be invaluable in sourcing critical components and materials.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry specific vendors.
- Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in the correct amounts.
- Prepare purchase orders, submit RFQ’s and review requisitions for goods and services. Comply with RFQ’s requested by the client on a timely manner.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Analyze price proposals and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
- Negotiate, or renegotiate with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives. Increase supplier consolidation.
- Maintain and review records of items purchased.
- Directly supports sales team. Evaluate, and identifies long term agreements (LTA’s).
- Identifies Manufacturers, establish payment terms.
- Maintain online inventory price list.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors. Find new sources of supply and set up new distribution agreements.”
- Manages eight or more product platforms.
- Train and lead team members.
- Participate in supplier evaluations.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
- BA or BS from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Six (6) years’ experience with sourcing product, in at least one of the following platforms: aviation, seagoing vessels and/or military land vehicles and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using ILS, Parts Base, Haystack and other inventory locating data bases.
- Significant exposure to FAR/DFAR, NSN and export compliance.
- Aerospace or defense experience preferred.
- Engineering and / or technical background a plus
- Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to understand business operations and offer opportunities for improvement and demonstrate to others the value of such guidance.
