Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Plant Electrician at ECKART in Louisville, KY. The Plant Electrician will be responsible for conducting electrical work, maintenance, and repairs, as well as troubleshooting electrical issues. Additionally, the Plant Electrician will be involved in electrical engineering tasks to support plant operations.
Essential Functions
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Connect wiring and electrical circuits, ranging from low-voltage DC to 480V, 3-phase, ensuring compatibility of components while adhering to safety practices and PPE requirements.
- Perform troubleshooting to identify malfunctions and execute necessary repairs.
- Utilize system drawings and diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Diagnose and repair motor control circuits effectively.
- Select, install, and connect solid-state devices such as relays, switches, photoeyes, etc.
- Prepare and assemble conduit, pulling wiring to the designated destination.
- Conduct routine inspections and repairs to prevent electrical system breakdowns.
- Provide input and assist in plant shutdown and startup planning.
- Test and repair instrumentation systems used by production equipment to ensure they meet performance and quality standards.
- Contribute to and execute plans for installing new equipment, process controls, and plant lighting upgrades.
- Ensure proper labeling of plant switchgear and circuit breakers.
- Document modifications and new installations as required.
- Maintain and utilize plant PLC addressing, data manipulation, counters, timers, and logic functions.
- Familiarity with Process Sheet for PWS/RTW tests incorporated as part of the Position Description.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary technical or trade school education preferred.
- Electrician’s License preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the installation/maintenance of industrial electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (Article 500 experience preferred).
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E regulations.
- Proficiency in AC and DC power and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, circuit diagrams, and schematics.
- Skilled in performing testing and evaluations on electrical apparatus using tools such as VOMs, amp meters, meggers, etc.
- Previous experience with PLCs and microprocessors preferred.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Flexibility to work off-hours and overtime, often with short or no notice.
- Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
