Coating Technician (Medical Device)
Location: Northridge, CA. (On-Site)
Pay Rate: $27-30/hr. DOE
12 month assignment (potential to extend or convert)
On behalf of our client a Global Medical device client that focuses on transdermal products. We are seeking for a Coating Technician that will be responsible for cleaning, setting up, weighing, formulating, mixing, and coating according to the requirements outlined in SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), M.O.s (Manufacturing Orders), and CAMSTAR procedures. The role includes collecting drug samples, ensuring equipment is correctly cleaned and maintained, using the proper raw materials, and following formulation processes in compliance with established methods and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate Mixing, Coating, and Slitting equipment, ensuring that the correct components are added in the proper sequence and amounts per M.O. and CAMSTAR requirements.
- Perform equipment change-over and set-up operations for coaters, slitters, and mixing vessels in a timely, efficient, safe, and compliant manner.
- Monitor equipment to ensure it operates within established parameters; report any deviations to the Supervisor and Process Engineer immediately.
- Ensure all products manufactured meet GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) specifications; report any deviations immediately.
- Perform thorough and accurate line clean checks to prevent product cross-contamination.
- Verify materials as required in SOPs and ensure all raw materials are cleared for use.
- Follow all cleaning procedures outlined in department SOPs, M.O.s, CAMSTAR, and protocols for formulation isolators, coaters, mixing vessels, and slitting equipment.
- Troubleshoot routine equipment problems and notify supervision and maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the Coating, Mixing, cleaning suites, and Flammable storage warehouse; report any property damage to the Supervisor immediately.
Education and Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in Medical Device industry or related field, pharmaceutical, manufacturing is ideal.
- Physical capability to lift 25-65 lbs. (occasionally) and push/pull weights of 310-360 lbs. using a dolly when handling 55-gallon drums.
- Good mechanical skills to ensure correct assembly and operation of coating and mixing equipment per standards.
- Effective time management during daily work tasks in all coating, mixing, slitting, formulating, and warehouse activities.
- Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) per EHS requirements; ensure co-workers also comply with PPE requirements.
