Configuration Management Professional:
Extensive experience to lead a team of configuration and data managers for a large scale Army Training Devices sustainment program. This Configuration Manager applies their experience working directly with engineering, production and sustainment teams to create and maintain hardware, software, firmware, COTS/FOSS, development, test, production and fielded configuration baselines. This lead CM position is tasked with ensuring CM support produces product data that meets technical, regulatory and company
requirements necessary to maintain configuration control and meet quality management system standards, promotes efficient, collaborative, and timely CM workflow, coordinates document and data deliverable management, identifies and troubleshoots anomalies, demonstrates and promotes analytical thinking, and capably communicates complex processes, both verbal and written.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Apply V2X policy and process in addition to industry and military standards to create the program CM Plan
· Coordinate with Aras Innovator administrators to apply CM planning during Aras Innovator
process & workflow customization
· Establish CSA reporting requirements & robust change management processes to ensure accurate & timely updates to configuration item (CI) status
· Work with cross-functional team members to Identify & address any inherited CM issues during transition-in to validate/establish technical baselines; coordinating with the customer as necessary for resolution
· Document current customer identification practices for incorporation into CM planning and
processes (eg, Device Version Control (DVC) and National Stock Number (NSN))
· Manage baseline identification for traceability through product-specific lifecycles, to control technical data packages, & incremental sustainment releases utilizing Aras Innovator Digital Twin Core functionality
· Provide updates/revisions to the customer through the externally facing library portal
· Validate proper application of configuration identification at all stages of CCB review & government disposition
· Uniquely identify change request types across program CM tools to support traceability between supporting Technical Direction Plans & all affected CIs
· Define product metadata requirements to be applied across program CM tools to maintain and support searchable tech pubs, data, & manuals
· Ensure document and data items comply with data export requirements.
· Align program ERB/CCB structures and processes with customer product lead organizations
· Standardize the process for change request impact analysis & supporting data collection
· Ensure process-compliant execution of ERB/CCB workflow
· Support engineering, training, logistics, & cyber processes implemented to incorporate approved changes
· Responsible for inventory and control of all COTS/FOSS and associated Licensing, maintained in the programs COTS Software database.
· Guide and execute the release of product baselines, including applicable CDRLs, for production, lab use, procurement, or field deployment as applicable
· Integrate CM versioning & baseline management into IA/cybersecurity baselines
· Update CSA to maintain accurate change management status & update affected library artifacts with each release for end users
· Define and apply the program CSA system based upon CM processes implemented, and the capabilities of the program CM tool suite
· Utilize CM tools to manage status-specific metadata, centralized in Aras Innovator
· Enhance CSA reporting requirements as new requirements are identified
· Publish CSA reports in the program library and ensure CM processes yield accurate CSA
metadata used for searching and ad-hoc report generation
· Communicate CM status to Functional and Program Management.
· Plan and execute baseline audits for each product baseline release, verifying incorporation of
approved changes
· Plan and execute internal CM process audits to ensure CM processes are executed as planned &
evaluate effectiveness
· Plan and execute functional and/or physical configuration audit based on Technical Direction Plan requirements
Qualifications Required:
· Extensive experience associated with defined Configuration Management processes based on common functional best practices (EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, ISO, ITIL and CMMI)
· Expert skill level in the utilization of at least one advanced PDM tool supporting hardware,
systems and/or software work products.
· Ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines, production and product sustainment teams, as well as external suppliers.
· Ability to provide CM process training to the program team.
· Creativity in problem solving, crisp attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
· Strong Microsoft Office skills
Qualifications Desired:
· Experience using Aras Innovator, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins
· Configuration Management certification, such as NDIA and/or CMII
· Practical experience with Agile development methods
· Experience using IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG)
· Experience working with government customers including the US Army, US Navy, USMC and/or USAF.
· Experience with automated deployment technologies like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
· Proposal and cost estimation experience
· Prior experience with Quality Management Systems (experience with internal and external audits is a plus)
