Description
The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is tasked with ensuring all equipment and labor objectives are met within the maintenance and electrical departments. Additionally, this role establishes and plans department priorities with input from operations management, provides direction and approval to contractors, all while influencing a safety conscious workforce using various forms of leadership, such as: staff motivation, evaluation, environmental health & safety (EHS), training, staffing levels, equipment needs, scheduling, and managing employee relations issues.
What you will do:
Develop, lead, and cultivate a safe working environment keeping department accountable for site safety practices.
Assist maintenance planning and reliability maintenance with CMMS / Ivara system.
Monitor and improve processes, procedures, and equipment to reduce or eliminate safety hazards and risks, with a goal of achieving a zero OSHA recordable case rate.
Manage, direct, coach, mentor, lead, train and motivate team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve skills and manufacturing effectiveness.
Develop and implement department training strategies to enhance core skills and competencies of team members.
Maintain a high level of internal control over department processes and implement controls to adequately manage business risks consistent within Company expectations to include preparing and monitoring performance of plant wide maintenance spending and budgets.
Manage, prioritize, and lead department activities to meet requirements and plant goals for safety, quality, quantity produced, and cost efficiency.
Establish staffing levels, equipment needs, and department schedules to ensure plant success.
Develop and implement overall department Strategy and work with Reliability to ensure maximum equipment operational availability and plant up-time.
Function as primary contact for mechanical and electrical contractors during shutdowns, capital projects, and major maintenance overhauls.
Maintain and foster positive employee relations and communications within the department and between other departments within the organization.
What you will need:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline with 3-5 years Maintenance Management experience OR 10 years of manufacturing management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of five years working in fast paced, multi-tasking industrial manufacturing environment.
Minimum of three years of supervisory experience, including conducting personnel reviews, hiring, and discipline.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in an industrial maintenance function.
Advanced computer skills including MS Office software.
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and the tools associated with failure detection (i.e. vibration analysis, oil monitoring, thermography) as well as the software associated with them.
Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and aptitude.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
