Bastian Solutions is seeking a Procurement Manager for their Manufacturing divisions. This person would primarily work in-person at our Carmel, Indiana location and other Bastian sites including Westfield, Greenfield, St. Louis, etc.
Create standardized methods for locating and obtaining goods and services that Bastian Solutions requires to execute on customer commitments. Responsible for ensuring the materials or services obtained for the company are high quality and fall within budget requirements by identifying potential supplier sources, screening suppliers, and negotiating favorable payment terms. Hire, train and supervise a team of Purchasing specialists supporting multiple business units and operations (including but not limited to Project Execution, Manufacturing, Research & Development, and Administration. Develop company policies related to purchasing to provide guidelines for procurement staff to follow. Procurement manager will be the primary point of contact between suppliers and Bastian Solutions. Other duties include monitoring supplier performance and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
Job Functions
- Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers, maintaining relationships, while continually scouting for additional vendors
- Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements supporting operational teams as required in quoting process
- Negotiate contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers and management of purchase order processing including both tactical (lowest price) and strategic (value vs cost) savings to help achieve revenue goals
- Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and services
- Work closely with the finance & legal department to ensure contract terms are favorable
- Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business
- Evaluate spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries
- Communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production (Supplier Scorecards / Quality Audits)
- Conduct cost analysis and setting benchmarks for improvement to drive profit expansion
- Develop performance management tracking and Master Service Agreements with key vendors to drive cost reductions via consolidated purchasing power
- Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
- Ensure Supplier Qualification process is adhered to, Certificates of Insurance are maintained and updated timely, and key vendor audits are performed
- Supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary
- Liaises with key company employees to determine their product and service needs
- Establishment of corporate processes supporting standardization of controlled processes pertaining to procurement to meet JSOX expectations
Travel Requirements
- 25% Travel to visit suppliers, perform site audits, manage inventory levels, understand operational flow will be cortical to success of this role
Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship
- Bachelor’s degree - Procurement Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics or Logistics
- Graduate Degree preferred in Procurement/Purchasing
- 10+ Years of expanding procurement responsibilities with 5 years leading a procurement team
- Extensive experience working in the procurement department in a related field
- Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions
- Experience in custom, engineered products procurement and project execution procurement vs standard materials / manufacturing process
- Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Able to travel to meet with suppliers and work overtime as required
- Procurement / Supply Chain Management Certifications desired (Examples: CPP, CPPM, CIPP, CIAPP, CPSM, MCIPS)
- Impeccable time- management, attention to detail, and policy compliance skills
- Strategic mindset – ability to analyze beyond day to day management to drive competitive advantage to Bastian Solutions through procurement
- Relationship Building / Partnership Development – both internally and externally
- Financial acumen – ability to understand profitability drivers through procurement activities
- Occasionally Ability to walk warehouse, manufacturing sites, lift boxes during inventory/audit processes
