Controls/Automation Engineer
Summary:
Our client is a premier tier 1 supplier who is looking to add an experienced and professional Controls/Automation Engineer to their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, EFMs, process automation and instrumentation. This role involves programming, maintaining, troubleshooting and optimizing automation processes to ensure safe and efficient operations.
The Controls/Automation Engineer must have a minimum of 2 years of experience ideally in a manufacturing setting.
Controls/Automation Engineer Job Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Electrical Controls/Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Robot programming (FANUC) experience and vision system 2D/3D preferred.
- 2-5 years of automation programming and troubleshooting experience preferred
- Ability to read and understand automation electrical wiring schematics.
- Understanding of documents, SOPs, preventative maintenance procedures, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and programming language.
- Must have proficiency in various computer software programs such as IT business system, Microsoft Excel and Windows. Must be detail-oriented and able to work accurately while meeting assigned deadlines.
- Must be willing to flex work hours based on operational demand.
- Must possess strong verbal skills and have a highly developed sense of urgency.
- Working Conditions:
- Works in climate-controlled office. Occasionally exposed to noise, heat, dust and fumes of plant. Must be able to wear all required PPE when in the plant. Must have accurate and fast data entry abilities.
Controls/Automation Engineer Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Must have a safety-first mindset
- Experienced in programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining RTU, EFM, PLC and SCADA equipment.
- Performs production floor programming/troubleshooting, with CNC experience preferred.
- Escalate issues when necessary to Engineering/Maintenance.
- Develop/update equipment documentation (SOPs, work instructions, equipment drawings, preventative maintenance, calibration, etc.)
- Optimize automation changes to improve existing manufacturing processes.
- Investigate and correct problems involving the manufacturing processes and equipment which adversely affect the process results.
- Assist in the installation and validation of new manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Well organized and detail-oriented.
- Reliable, dependable, and shows up on time.
- Self-motivated, displays strong personal integrity and works hard.
- Additional duties may be required.
