Job Description:
- A Systems/Reliability Engineer in this role is responsible for using their broad technical expertise, leadership skills, and product development knowledge to provide Systems leadership through various phases of product life cycle.
- This Systems/Reliability Engineer will manage the verification and traceability of product requirements and specifications for new hardware and software products, aid in product validation planning and execution, and analyze / calculate / report on reliability and durability verification activities.
- The expectation for a Senior Systems/Reliability Engineer is that they regularly serve on the systems engineering team and interact with electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineers to achieve verification goals, act as a leader of technical excellence, and participate as an agent for continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering function. As such, they are expected to help identify tasks/resources and fulfill them to ensure that critical project milestones are met and systems integration activities are completed, including reliability testing and statistical data analysis.
What is expected of you for success in your role?
- Intimate knowledge of the product development lifecycle from concept through launch.
- Extensive experience implementing Systems Engineering best practices.
- Proficient knowledge of Reliability & Verification Engineering.
- Efficiency while leading system verification, validation planning and execution, reliability plan, testing and analysis, integration planning, etc.
- Utilize cross-functional knowledge to resolve technical challenges, drive issues to closure, and retire technical risks necessary for new product introduction.
- Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) best practices.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering. A postgraduate degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years related work experience required (combination of work experience and advanced degrees).
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines, for example: interdepartmental (with fellow engineers), cross-functional (with Marketing, Clinical Representatives, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Regulatory, etc.).
- A strong technical background within Systems Engineering, medical device development, or similar.
- Experience with Systems Engineering and requirements management.
- Experience with Reliability Engineering and statistical analysis.
- Familiar with systems integration and testing, Project Management, and Failure Modes Effects Analysis.
- DFSS knowledge and experience or statistical test design and analysis knowledge.
- Experience with Quanterion’s 217Plus™:2015, Notice 1 Reliability Prediction Calculator or Sherlock (Ansys) now that is unicorn territory is desirable.
- LabView and test automation experience is desirable.
- Ability to use, view, and understand CAD tools (OrCad, Solidworks, Cadence) is desirable.
- Must have very strong writing skills.
- Attention to detail is paramount.
