Responsibilities
As a Junior Estimator with a focus on millwork/casework, you will be an integral part of our project planning and execution team. You will work closely with experienced estimators and project managers to provide accurate cost estimates specifically for millwork casework projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documents, as well as conducting site visits and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and precise estimates. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of millwork casework processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, you will be required to work on other scopes of work from time to time.
Specific duties will include:
- Project Analysis: Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications related to millwork casework to fully understand the scope and requirements.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for millwork casework materials, labor, and equipment needed for projects.
- Submittal Process: Prepare and submit all sample and millwork casework material submittals for projects, tracking and documenting them through the approval process.
- Vendor and Supplier Communication: Solicit and evaluate quotes from millwork casework subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality materials.
- Database Management: Maintain and update the company's cost database specifically for millwork casework, including historical data and current market prices.
- Documentation: Prepare organized and detailed estimates for millwork casework, including breakdowns of costs, labor requirements, and project timelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, senior estimators, and other team members to ensure estimates align with project goals in the millwork casework sector.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings through value engineering in millwork casework projects while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Tender Submissions: Collaborate with the Senior Estimator and PM to prepare and submit tender proposals focused on millwork casework and actively participate in tender negotiations.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and practices specific to millwork casework to enhance the accuracy of estimates.
- Multi-Disciplinary Support: Assist in estimating other scopes of work, such as framing, drywall, and flooring, as needed from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, millwork technology, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in millwork or casework estimating is preferred, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in other estimating scopes of work, such as framing, drywall, and flooring, is a plus.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
