The role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Specialist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and maintaining control systems for our manufacturing processes. This role is critical in ensuring our equipment operates efficiently and meets all regulatory requirements, while also contributing to ongoing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, Program, and Maintain Control Systems: Develop and optimize PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for various production lines, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Diagnose and repair control system malfunctions, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous production flow.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to integrate and enhance control systems across the facility.
- Implement Process Improvements: Analyze current processes and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards, including food safety and occupational health and safety guidelines.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed documentation of control systems, including schematics, programming code, and maintenance logs.
- Train and Support Staff: Provide training and technical support to operators and maintenance personnel on control system operations and troubleshooting techniques.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Experience with HMI and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics and control panel design.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with industry regulations such as HACCP, FDA, and OSHA.
- Certification in Control Systems Engineering (CSE) or similar.
