Overview:
The Senior Systems & Network Engineer will be integral to delivering, implementing, and maintaining system and network solutions to ensure continuous operations across the organization and its affiliated entities. This role spans from initial design through to day-to-day operations, including the gathering of network requirements, developing planning and design documents, and implementing solutions to support business needs. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the performance and availability of server and network services, including monitoring, installing, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing server and network equipment. The position reports to the Director of IT and works closely with a team of systems and network infrastructure engineers to deliver reliable solutions in a 24/7 environment. The candidate must be prepared to be on-call to provide support and schedule off-hour maintenance services as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience with Microsoft 365, AWS EC2, and migration from internally hosted to colocation and/or cloud services.
- Work with Sonicwall Firewalls and SMA, manage VPN systems, and ensure information security requirements are met.
- Install, configure, and maintain switches, LAN devices with VLAN routing and switching, servers, SANs, and more.
- Implement and maintain VMWare environments, including SRA over VMWare.
- Design and deploy functional networks, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN.
- Ensure operational integrity, reliability, and maintenance of data center equipment, including regular support and break-fix services.
- Automate tasks and monitor effectiveness, resolving escalated issues from cloud and local infrastructure.
- Mentor team members on technical issues, create and test security measures, and interact with clients to address and resolve issues.
- Maintain technical documentation, support end-user hardware and software, and suggest improvements to network performance and scalability.
- Manage access controls, CCTV, and firefighting systems, and ensure facility security through physical checks and monitoring systems.
- Travel to U.S. offices (TX, OK, DC) as required and interact with vendors for hardware, software, and license procurement.
- Communicate job expectations, manage direct reports, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure business and development goals are met.
Qualifications:
- 10 to 15 years in IT, IT security, and physical security, with strong vendor management experience.
- Skilled in implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining servers, workstations, firewalls, networks, and related equipment.
- Proficient in Windows Server, Windows OS, Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills. Must be self-motivated and capable of motivating others.
- Must pass a 10-year background check and drug screen.
Education & Certification:
- Associate’s degree in a technology-related field or 5-6 years of equivalent training and experience.
