Job Summary:
The EHS Specialist will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. The specialist will work closely with all departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, aiming to minimize workplace hazards and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain and update all required EHS documentation and records.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
Safety Programs:
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective actions.
- Coordinate emergency response planning and drills.
Environmental Programs:
- Implement and manage waste disposal, recycling, and pollution prevention programs.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits.
- Manage hazardous materials and ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal.
Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees.
- Ensure all employees are trained in EHS policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety through continuous education and awareness campaigns.
Risk Assessment:
- Perform risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe work practices.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance safety and environmental performance.
- Participate in EHS audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Experience with EHS management systems and software.
