The main duties of the Automotive Assembly and Fabrication Technician include using hand and power tools to assemble and build specialty vehicles under the guidance and supervision of senior craftsmen. The candidate must have the ability to plan ahead, possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, understand the basic mechanics of automobiles. The candidate must also be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment, while offering the highest levels of accuracy and attention to quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility for the complete assembly of specialty vehicles.
- Mounting of Fiberglass bodies to Chassis
- Installation of brake and steering systems.
- Installation of interior components (seats, seat belts, trim, floor coverings, etc.)
- Installation of electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to create/modify wiring harnesses, fuel and brake lines.
- Installation transmissions, engines, and fuel system components as needed.
- Mount and Balance tire and wheel packages.
Preferable knowledge of shop equipment operation:
- MIG/TIG
- Tubing bender
- Band saw
- Bench brake
- Shear
- Drill Press
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from vocational or community college and 2-5 years of relative experience, or a combination of both
- Be able to lift 75lbs (Heavier items will be ‘Team lift’)
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Provide help/support within multiple departments as needed
- Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license (required for logistics as needed)
