Job Requirements
- Consult with engineer and other personnel regarding engine information such as design, specifications and purpose, and types of material to be used to assemble product, and accurately set up and run the test to ensure accuracy of data and results
- Build, operated and disassemble engines on dynamometer test stands
- Analyze written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to plan, layout and determine sequence of operations
- Determine special instrumentation and tooling needs, design and machine these items as needed
- Design and make dynamometer set up hardware as needed
- Keep records as required to fulfill test requirements
- Inspect engines in use to determine wear and usability (Compression, Cylinder leakage, Valve tip height, Valve lash, Bore scope inspections for example)
- Work with other disciplines within the department, such as the machine shop when needed in making and modifying parts
- Select and work with outside vendors to perform needed services
- Installs parts and materials such as sheet metal covering, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants and batteries as required
- Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
- Establish work procedures for engine build, inspection, and measurement details
- Advise fellow workers on proper and safe work habits. Provide technical advice to management and fellow workers on engine related questions
- Educate others so they can be better informed and make better decisions
- Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of the Company Quality and Environmental Systems
- Required to observe all safety rules and regulations
- Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area
- Complies with Company policies, procedures, guidelines and standards
- Train and aid cross functional disciplines as time permits

- Depending on the level of positions the follow education and experience are desired:
- Entry level: Zero to 5+ year experience and/or training within the field
- Intermediate level: Five to 10 years of experience and/or 2 year associates degree in related field
- Sr./Shift lead level: 10+ years of experience and/or 2 year associates degree in related field
- Ability to read technical manuals, accurately record data. Ability to effectively present information to others
- Ability to do simple math, use a calculator and a PC
- There will be the necessity to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form is required as well
- ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) certification in relevant fields a plus
