JOB SUMMARY
Within the test development group of Certifying Board Services (CBS), the Item Bank Certification Specialist assists in providing item banking, exam construction, and exam publication services to the Boards. This position requires the ability to interact tactfully with Board members and professionals within the association, the ability to handle confidential material, deal with sensitive situations, and possess a high degree of attention to detail. The successful candidate will work well in a complex system of inter-related exam cycle activities, be willing to support the Certifying Board Services team and exam committees with technical skills, software support, verbal and written communications, and the ability to use discretion and judgment in the execution of job duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following description of job responsibilities and standards is intended to reflect the major responsibilities and duties of the job, but is not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Works as one of a group with administrator capabilities in the item banking system (ExamDeveloper) with both administrative and clerical tasks that support the item and exam construction. Duties include developing or importing item pools, setting permissions, making and communicating subject matter expert (SME) assignments, preparing collections for remote reviews, and otherwise creating or editing examination materials.
- Develops material for item review and examination construction meetings, trains staff, SME groups, or individual SMEs with software use. Replies to inquiries in a help-desk capacity via email, phone, or in-person regarding software functionality or other software issues. Prepares tables or reports that describe item pool or exam content.
- Assists in post processing of examination items and examination construction per board instruction, including diagnostic reports and follow-up deliverables.
- Works within a flexible team, identifying developing issues and works with others to formulate and implement the response.
- Maintains a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality in regard to all aspects of the certification process. The confidentiality of these item pools and changes to information in regard to them is paramount.
- Identifies a need for and develops standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintaining a current statement of all procedures performed for client boards including all database, correspondence, financial and routine activities and the documentation of policies relating to those activities. The purpose of these compilations of activities and policies is to ensure consistent procedures and performance in relation to all certification activities performed for client boards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION OR EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Substantial course work in computer science, social science, and/or education preferred
Experience: 3 years required, 5 – 7 years preferred
Licensure or Certification: N/A
SPECIAL SKILLS/EQUIPMENT
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
- Experience with test development systems (such as ExamDeveloper), data manipulation/statistical scripting (python, R, SPSS, SAS, etc.) preferred.
- Item Bank and/or Credentialing experience preferred/
