Job Title: Safety Contractor
Location: Falmouth, MI 49632
Duration: 09 Months
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Observe the work being performed by construction personnel.
Assess if workers are exposed to potentially hazardous conditions (working at height, confined space entry, hot work, rigging, scaffolding, power tools, etc).
Assess if workers are following safe work practices per OSHA standards and company requirements.
Inspect the job site, equipment, and tools to ensure compliance with industry safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Check the adequacy of ventilation, lighting, personal protective equipment, and other factors that could affect worker health and safety.
Participate in accident investigations to identify causal factors and actions to prevent repeat incidents.
Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and safety orientations for new personnel assigned to the job site.
Report unsafe work practices and conditions to the onsite supervisor representing the contractor and to the onsite supervisor representing the company.
Prepare daily and weekly reports summarizing key safety metrics.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
10 years of overall experience with 5 of those being in construction safety experience
Hands-on safety experience, preferably related to the construction industry.
Safety certifications (e.g., CSP, OSHA 30-hour, etc) preferred, but not required.
Strong working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926.
Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)
Physical Requirements:

Able to climb up and down stairs, ladders, and stand for long periods of time.
Must wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc)
Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week depending on workload.
Some travel may be required.
