Sustainable Design Consulting, LLC (SDC) has immediate need for a high-performing, team-oriented Senior Consultant, Mechanical Engineering in our Richmond, Virginia office to join our award-winning sustainability consulting team. Responsibilities
The Senior Consultant, Mechanical Engineering leads teams managing LEED / green building projects, while working closely with internal colleagues in a fast-paced, specialized, and focused environment. Dependent upon the successful candidate’s experience, this position may also provide building energy modeling, benchmarking, technical consulting, and/or auditing services for a team managing LEED / green building design, construction, operations and maintenance projects, and training initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have a Bachelors’ degree in and minimum ten years’ experience in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or other fields related to building energy efficiency and/or renewable energy. Candidates must be well-versed in commercial green building principles, practices, and the overall industry. Candidates must have played a primary role in at least two LEED v4 projects and should have experience performing commercial building energy models for LEED certification compliance. Candidates must have professional-level expertise in navigating architectural and engineering drawings and specifications and must have experience with LEED Online. Candidates must possess excellent project and team management skills, with the ability to delegate appropriately to support staff. Candidates must also demonstrate superior communication skills, strong initiative, flexibility, organizational and time management skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to achieve the LEED Green Associate credential within 6 months of the day of employment, if not already accredited.
Additional Qualifications
Candidates may also have experience with and/or credentials in any of the green building standards with which SDC currently works, including but not limited to: ENERGY STAR, Guiding Principles for High Performance Sustainable Buildings, Fitwel, Green Communities Criteria, Green Globes, International Green Construction Code, LEED Zero, Living Building Challenge, Net Zero Energy Buildings, Parksmart Certification, SITES, and the WELL Building Standard. Experience with ESG Reporting, program development, or financial incentive management, as well as presentation and training delivery, are all plusses.
