As an essential member of the creative team, the Senior Designer works in collaboration
with the Art Director to lead design for in-store, corporate and digital executions. The Senior Designer possesses attention to detail, has a strong eye for design and applies a conceptual mindset to create powerful experiences and campaigns across both digital and physical retail environments. As a leader within the creative team, the Senior Designer will apply strategic thinking and design best practices to workflow and creative output. As a collaborative leader to cross-functional teams, the Senior Designer informs project and creative strategies through design thinking and excellent communication skills. The Senior Designer works with the Art Directors and Creative Directors to concept and design compelling executions, as well as manage projects and teams across all JD Finish Line channels. This individual should effectively exhibit JD Finish Line’s core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following main duties:
- Leads design across a range of large and small-scale projects, campaigns, day-to- day projects to support business needs, in-store, POP, store fixtures, site promotions, emails, social assets and blog.
- Mentors junior designers and third party resources, potentially with direct report responsibilities, offering support and project guidance.
- Leads by example with consistent focus, clear and concise communication, passion for design and proven ability to craft high quality work.
- Develops relationships with cross functional team members focused on collaboration and co-creation to produce forward thinking concepts that have a direct impact on business results and elevate the Finish Line brand experience.
- Is a steward for brand consistency by enforcing and evolving Finish Line brand standards.
- Thinks strategically and applies skills to proactive problem solving.
- Assists with preparing and directing photo shoots as needed.
- Prepares daily creative executions for review by Art Directors, Creative Directors and internal/external business partners.
- Supports the Art Director in the still and video capture process from pre to post production, including traveling to and assisting on set as needed.
- Additional duties and projects as required.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 4 – 6 year related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional 3 – 5 years working in a design position, agency or in house department. Additional experience includes the following:
- Demonstrated mastery of design fundamentals: typography, grids, color, icons and application of design systems
- Demonstrated mastery of digital design fundamentals: deep understanding of front-end development: responsive/modern web standards, motion, interaction, and pattern
- Demonstrated mastery of user experience fundamentals: wireframes, flows, prototypes, and testing
- Demonstrated mastery of brand creative fundamentals: crafting a brand story through the lens of personalities/influencers, building and executing brand campaigns, gathering performance data and assessing success
- The ability to negotiate creative requirements, apply feedback, and provide consultative design as a service to internal and external teams
- The ability to perform work within a prescribed end-to-end creative process, global style guides, and guiding design principles
Required Computer and/or Technical Skills
A strong proficiency in Mac based Adobe Creative Suite, including In-design, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Premiere and After Effects and Acrobat required. Should have basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Google products; Slides, Drive etc.

The company reserves the right to modify this job description with or without notice. Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per company policy. The pay range; $67,000 - $80,000. This role will have a 15% bonus target annually but may vary based on experience level. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
