JOB SUMMARY:
Ultrasonic Inspector using the immersion straight beam technique. Set-up maintain and operate ultrasonic inspection equipment. Operator shall qualify to a minimum of Level II in Immersion Ultrasonic Inspection non-destructive testing/inspection (NDT) method in conformance to customer and Pursuit Aerospace requirements. Certification to include General/Specific/Practical exams in accordance with NAS-410 and SIM-1. Job title shall be assigned on the completion of all qualification and certification requirements.
The defined inspector will prepare parts for inspection, process parts through the inspection, interpret scan data to determine conformance of parts inspected, and pack product. Operator will be responsible for performing all portions of the operations and maintaining required documentation in accordance with all Pursuit Aerospace and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform ultrasonic inspection using the immersion straight beam technique and evaluate results for acceptance.
- Perform calibrations of ultrasonic test equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, factory routers, sketches and drawings, MSDS sheets and safety related information.
- Intermittently use wrenches, small tongs, and powered hand tools. Periodically transport production materials (i.e. WIP, parts, tools equipment, salvage material, scrap, and waste) to the next operation or designated location throughout the facility utilizing a powered industrial truck, powered industrial walk-behind, or pallet jack.
- Maintain logs, inspection sheets, and various other paperwork as required by Pursuit Aerospace and its customers.
- Complete routine maintenance and cleaning of work area.
- May perform other inspection duties when no ultrasonic inspection work is available, to include CMM, visual, gage, warm size, etc.
- Perform other assigned duties as directed by supervisor or manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High School or equivalent.
- Previously certified in ultrasonic inspection in accordance with NAS-410, SNT-TC1A, CP-189, or equivalent. A level II certification using the Immersion technique preferred.
- Meet vision requirements – Jager 1 and color vision.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Be capable of accepting training to pass any required certification testing.
- Ability to pay attention to detail while performing multiple tasks in a production environment.
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to follow documented procedures, work instructions and customer required records and to keep accurate records.
- Basic algebra and trigonometry knowledge required.
- Solid PC skills including MS Excel and Word.
- Flexibility – willingness to work in other areas of the inspection department (CMM/Gage/Visual/etc.) as workload dictates.
- Familiarity with Scanmaster/IRT ultrasonic equipment preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Frequent use of hands for simple grasping and product inspection.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Recurring activities involving being around moving machinery and exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull various weights with some weighing over 50 pounds.
