Los Angeles-Based HR Generalist Candidates Need Apply

Our client is a prestigious religious organization who is looking for an HR Generalist to support their Catholic school Principals, staff, administration as well as executive leadership in the Department of Catholic Schools.
The candidate will have knowledge and experience with large, complex, multi-location organizations; your passion for HR; a successful record in employee relations, performance management, leave of absence administration and training; and strong interpersonal and communication skills. The HR Generalist will effectively manage multiple priorities and thrive in a high-volume, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an academic environment as well as experience as a former Catholic school student or past/current experience as a member of a Catholic faith community is a plus.
The position is on-site unless your presence is needed at regional training sessions, or to assist with employee relations issues. Must be willing and able to travel throughout Los Angeles County from time to time or occasionally visit schools in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
HR reporting, data management and systems: Assure that HR transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner in Catholic schools and the DCS with attention to data integrity. Track and analyze key metrics to monitor stakeholder satisfaction and continuously improve HR service delivery to Catholic schools and the DCS. Produce reports and analysis for DCS leadership regarding human resources trends and metrics utilizing relevant institutional or local reporting tools.
Benefits and Leave Administration: Assist employees in addressing questions or issues regarding leave of absence processes, laws, and organization policies. Assure that key benefits information is distributed within Catholic schools and the DCS.
Policy, Planning and Process Improvement: Develop, plan, and implement human resources policies, procedures, and best practices for Catholic schools and the DCS. Collaborate with the organizations central offices in implementing new business processes within Catholic schools and suggest opportunities for improvement or change.
Employee Relations: Serve as a local resource and advisor to DCS leadership and Catholic School administrators on employee relations issues, performance management, progressive discipline, termination according to organization policies and applicable employment laws. Train on how to and/or assist with investigations, progressive discipline, PIPs, conflict resolution.
Recruitment and Placement: Provide training, and guidance to Catholic school principals in ensuring recruitment best practices, policies and employment law are followed in teacher and school staff as regards the recruitment, selection, and the hiring process.
Classification and Compensation: Consult with DCS and HR on writing and developing job descriptions to meet staffing needs. Provide consultation on salary administration and recommend appropriate salary actions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- An active member of a Roman Catholic faith community is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
- 3 years or greater of professional-level human resources experience in a setting of similar scope and complexity to the Catholic schools’ network.
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations with prior experience in coordinating or managing a combination of recruitment, compensation, employee relations, position classification or employee benefits matters.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Large district school governance and administration preferred.
- Utilization of social media recruitment tools.
- Federal, state, and local employment laws, wage and hour laws, employee relations investigation and resolution, benefits administration, compensation structures, recruitment, placement, retention, employee, and organizational development, HRIS data analysis and providing relevant metrics.
Skill in:
- Sound business judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
- Public Speaking
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Developing training materials and conducting training via e-learning or in person
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HRIS.
- Bilingual/Biliteral Skills (English/Spanish) a plus
