Our client is seeking a scientist with strong interest in developing novel cell-based cancer therapies. This position will play an important role in platform and pipeline development, including but not limited to key IND-enabling studies and translational research.
This role involves designing and executing translational plans from program inception through pharmacodynamic mechanisms of action, target engagement, and patient selection assays and strategies, aligning with clinical development objectives for biologics (ADC or antibody) or cell therapy trials.
Education /Background
- Ph.D. with 5-8 years of experience in life science-related fields
- An MD degree or MD/Ph.D.is a plus.
- 4+ years of experience in translational/cell therapy/biologics in cancer and/or autoimmune disease research
- CAR-T therapy-related experience is plus
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Establish and execute well-crafted translational plans, including PK/PD, safety, and biomarker analyses for all development candidates, focusing on target engagement, mechanism of action, pharmacodynamic biomarkers, and patient selection assays.
- Provide guidance, oversight, scientific input, and biomarker expertise for early development plans, academic collaborations (including publications and posters), and relevant documents (e.g., clinical protocols, sample collection tables, sample collection instructions and logistics, investigator brochures, regulatory documents).
- Integrate translational research and clinical development, develop a translational strategy aligned with clinical development objectives, and lead efforts for data generation, assay development, clinical sample analysis, data interpretation, and communication to the development teams.
- Ensure progress of translational plans through implementation and execution via internal technical assay execution and/or collaboration with external contract research organizations (CROs) and specialty testing labs.
Position Requirements & Experience Relevant Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record in successfully managing and leading a team of scientists and associates.
- Documented experience in oncology/immuno-oncology drug development, with an understanding of the role of translational research in drug development and working knowledge of all functional areas of drug development, including biology, clinical development, diagnostic development.
- Demonstrated scientific acumen and mechanistic understanding of disease biology and experience in oncology and immuno-oncology drug development (biologics and cell therapies).
- Experience in the design and generation of translational plans in oncology (autoimmune disease experience is a plus)
- Demonstrated experience in the appropriate application of various scientific technologies into translational research strategies (e.g. flow cytometry, immunoassays, qPCR/ddPCR, immunohistochemistry and multiplex approaches, etc.)
