POSITION SUMMARY:
The Foodware Technician performs the daily activities required to produce straws, cutlery, and future Foodware items.
This position will transfer product between process steps, tend production equipment, pack product in to sell units and load these sell units in to shipping cartons. Material handling responsibilities will be the movement of packaging material from storage to workstation, monitoring raw material at each process step and movement of finished goods from workstation to storage. At times, loading of product into trailer will be required.
Conduct inline QA checks and process documentation will be required at each different process step.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pack Foodware products per SOPs, wrap straws and other secondary operations.
- Monitor the machine process and report any problems to Shift Leads.
- Complete material handling tasks to maintain process flow, chipboard erection, raw material movement, pallet transfer, etc.
- Maintain clean workstation through effective practices and procedures.
- Complete daily safety checks.
- Complete daily preventative maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and document process parameters (downtime, scrap, machine conditions).
- Report data for Inventory Control daily.
- Participate as an active member of process improvement activities and meetings.
- Participate successfully for cross training events for team effectiveness.
- Demonstrate nimbleness to respond to changing customer requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good hand dexterity required to pack small foodware items.
- Discipline and rigor to meet safety expectations consistently.
- Able and willing to work under Food Grade GMP rules and meet expectations.
- Demonstration of satisfactory basic math skills for data collection and accurate part packing.
- Willingness and aptitude to learn different work assignments and work harmoniously within team atmosphere.
- Confidence in ability and desire to perform routine preventative maintenance activities
- on production equipment to ensure meeting operational goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent, one to two years related experience, or equivalent
- combination of education and experience, along with basic math and mechanical skills.
- Must be able to meet schedule requirements and willing to work overtime as required.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Spanish is a plus.
- Forklift license – will train to meet Newlight requirements.
- Lift up to 20 lbs.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to work in a manufacturing environment facility. While performing
the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical
parts, chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is
usually loud and ear protection is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The employee is required to stand for up to 8 hours and may engage in climbing or
balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee regularly lifts and/or

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, M-F 7:30am-4pm
