Description:
The Fabrication Technical Lead ensures that work flows through metals department in day-to-day operations to fulfill customer orders on a timely basis and within quality standards. In addition to troubleshooting machines and training new employees that join the 2nd shift team. The metals department consists of manual welders, robotic welders, brake press operators, and laser machine operators.
Essential Duties:
- Train employees
- Ensure safe working environment
- Incident reporting for Safety
- Daily 5S audits
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
- Maintain and update MDI boards
- 1st level response for turn-backs
- Distribute work
- Daily review of production schedule for metals
- Coordinate priorities for paint with assembly
- Maintain accurate inventory levels utilizing Kanban replenishment and stock outage notification
- Ensure inventory locations are properly labeled
- Resolve inventory errors and expedite parts to ensure uninterrupted production
- Find and provide solutions to material shortages
- Cycle count parts
- Suggest process method improvements
- Assist laser, brake, weld, and tube bending as needed
- All other duties and projects as assigned

- Proficient in use of Syteline
- Proven experience working proactively in a self-guided environment
- Knowledge of Kanban and other delivery methods
- Demonstrated ability to build working relationships
- Ability to adhere to production processes

- Ability to analyze reports and performance metrics
- Ability to demonstrate outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 40 pounds from floor to waist occasionally
- Ability to lift 65 pounds from waist to chest occasionally
- Ability to lift 20 pounds from chest to overhead frequently
- Ability to carry 30 pounds, 3 feet, occasionally
- Ability to push 200 pounds on a wheeled cart for 40 feet occasionally
- Ability to pull 60 pounds on a wheeled cart for 50 feet occasionally
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Good hand/finger dexterity required
- Ability to handle repetitive motion
- Ability to reach above shoulders, crouch, bend at the waist, and climb an A-frame ladder
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in metals fabrication
- Laser, Press-Brake, and Welding experience
- Experience using Syteline or equivalent ERP system, preferred
- Knowledge of inventory control system, preferred
- Experience and/or knowledge of 5S, SMED, Kanban, TPM, Standard Work, and other Lean tools, preferred
