Senior Counsel – Global Trade Compliance
Job Description:
Our Client is a global leader in high tech products, processes and materials used in diverse industries from medical devices to aerospace, data transmission, cloud functionality and more. They are a major player in the AI field.
We have been retained on an exclusive basis on their behalf to conduct a search for an experienced trade and general compliance attorney to support their global trade compliance projects, programs, and initiatives. This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel, Global Compliance and may be fully remote or located at one of our client's U.S. offices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide support for global trade compliance matters (export controls, sanctions, product classifications, etc.)
- Conduct risk assessments and analyze new global trade regulations
- Develop and implement trade compliance governance policies
- Guide business personnel on complex classification and licensing questions
- Integrate trade compliance in core business processes
- Provide legal support and coordinate on implementation of corporate policies
- Develop and deliver compliance training
- Identify and support new methods to address legal issues and mitigate risks
- Conduct trade-related investigations and audits
- Liaise with external counsel and regulatory agencies
- Support M&A compliance due diligence.
- Resolve complex legal issues with specialized customs and global trade knowledge.
Requirements:
- JD degree and admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Preferred 5+ years of legal experience. This could be a combination of in-house, Big 4, and/or law firm with strong global trade compliance group.
- Experience in global trade-related legal advice in the semiconductor or tech industry
- Experience with U.S. trade controls and other international trade control regimes to include EAR, ITAR, OFAC and other international trade control regulations.
- Must be a US citizen as defined by ITAR regulations.
