Full Time QC Field Inspector for our site project team with responsibility for overseeing welding, erection, painting, inspection, welder qualifications and overall quality at the Project Site. Position will report directly to Evapco Dry Cooling QA/QC Manager.
Location: Short term, Morgan City, Louisiana project/modularization yard sitefor duration of 12 months, long term upon project completion, nationwide and Canada at project sites.
Essential functions and responsibilities
· Review and verify compliance of site welding, bolting and painting is within project technical specifications and code of construction such as AWS D1.1, NACE, ASME IX etc.
· Submit weekly status pictures of site erection.
· Perform Welding Inspections on several structural steel and ducting welding during erection.
· Ensure Evapco site vendor performs NDT as required per project specifications/QAP.
· Review NDT reports submitted to Evapco by various site vendors.
· Perform dimensional inspections for the Evapco vendor fabricated material and compare to the design drawings to ensure the material is correctly fabricated.
· Verify, review and check implementation of site vendors WPS/PQR/WPQ.
· Verify site vendor welder continuity log.
· Verifying and documenting incoming Material and their MTR’s.
· Verify Packing Lists against materials received at site from Evapco suppliers/contractors.
· Perform site inventories of parts at site, when required.
· Interface with QA/QC & Production personnel from vendors and clients on various expediting, inspections activities and matters.
· Perform Inspection at Evapco Vendors, if required.
· Perform equipment inspections, commissioning at site.
· Attend quality/technical meetings with clients & vendors as required.
· Maintain site NCR Log up to date and submit to QC Manager.
· Follow up on any NCRs raised by Evapco or that the site vendor/contractor might raise and report the details.
· Observing and documenting weld testing for the vendor. (Correct Test? Correct Position? Correct Consumable? Verify WPS they are testing for, etc.).
· Provide erection and welding progress status at Site for structural steel and ducting erection.
· Verifying calibration record of welding machines, instruments and measuring devices used in fabrication and erection by sub-contractors
· Welding consumable MTR and MSDS verification and review.
· Assist Evapco site Contractors in compiling the MDR books as the project progresses.
· Review Final MDR books from various site contractors.
· Help to verify proper handling of material including but not limited to Welding consumables, bolting, paint or primer and testing equipment etc.
· Witness bolting ROCAP/pre-installation verification testing performed by site vendors/contractors.
· Perform and witness paint and primer inspections as needed.
· Witness, verify fill out reports for mechanical equipment installation (motor, gearbox, fans)
· Witness equipment alignment (Motor, gearbox, pump)
· Witness/perform equipment, preservation and performance checks at the site, when required.
· Direct all concerns and questions to the QA/QC Manager and Site Manager.
· The inspector will perform other duties as they are needed and assigned by the QA/QC Manager and Site Manager.
· Write Daily/Weekly Reports and submit to the QA/QC Manager for the inspections completed and any issues for that day/week, or as instructed by QC Manager.
· Support Evapco Site and Commissioning Management with all job-related Inspections, quality Issues and various commissioning activities.
Required Skills/Abilities
· Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering, welding, construction and inspection.
· Willing to learn product construction and open minded.
· Proficient in writing reports and emails.
· Computer Literate -Proficiency with MS Office, Email, PDF.
· Great attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collectively within a site project team.
· Must be physically able to lift and /or move up to 75 lbs and climb ladders.
· Self-motivated
· Work at heights and in confined spaces.
Education, Experience & Certifications
· AWS D1.1 CWI Certification Certified Inspector
o Qualified candidate must have CWI Certification from American Welding Society.
o Candidate preferable must have experience in construction, testing and inspection working in structural steel construction and/or for pressure vessel manufacturing company. Must have knowledge and experience pertaining to AWS D1.1 Structural welding (steel) code.
· NACE Certification Level II or III. (Desired but not mandatory).
· 2-3 years working experience. All candidates will be considered.
