Job Summary:
The Material Group Planner ensures seamless multi-plant operations by managing vendor networks and inventory systems. This individual will utilize forecasts to setup, monitor, and maintain contractual purchases orders, ensuring timely release of packaging and ingredients. Additionally, the Material Group Planner will be responsible for setting up vendor qualifications in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing inventory control, preparing cost analyses, management presentations, vendor evaluations, and soliciting quotes from new external partners to enhance supply chain efficiency.
**Position can sit in Mount Olive, NC or Garner, NC**
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
- Owns vendor relationships including addressing performance concerns and ensuring both parties are set up for success.
- Sources new co-packers.
- Directly negotiates vendor agreements and purchase orders. Requests and reviews vendor documentation of materials prior to purchase.
- Updates all applicable project files and cost savings spreadsheets ensuring compliance with all internal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepares analysis spreadsheets and presentations utilized for forecasting, performance metrics, cost savings, bid preparation, month end reports, etc.
- Facilitates communication between plants and copack locations, ensuring relevant information is shared and gathered.
- Participates in or chairs internal and external conference calls and meetings.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to resolve any vendor concerns.
- Updates copack costing monthly.
- Issues meat cost to copackers and internal customers.
- Places purchases orders as needed for the copackers.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
- Fills in for Administrative Support or other Planner in event of absence or away from office.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of supply chain and logistics process within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in demand forecasting and production planning.
- Solid organization, coordination, negotiation, data accuracy, and facilitation skills.
- Capability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
- Experience in project management with the ability to effectively guide multiple processes through successful completion.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.), enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP, MRP software, and other relevant tools.
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Inventory Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in an associate material planner position or a comparable role is required.
Working Conditions:
- Office and Plant work environments. Possibility of being exposed to varying conditions in the Plant setting, such as cold areas, warm areas, chemicals, loud noise levels, and other site conditions.
- Work in office environment revolves around use of telephones, personal computers, and printers.
- Physical requirements of the position may include standing, sitting, and walking for greater than 1/3 of the day and seldom to occasional lifting of less than 30 pounds.
· Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
