Salary Range: $30.00 - $40.00 Hourly (DOE)
Are you passionate about precision design and innovative manufacturing? We are looking for a dedicated Tool and Mold Designer and Maker. In this role, you will be at the forefront of creating intricate tools, molds, and dies that are essential to our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design Excellence: Create detailed 2D and 3D designs using advanced CAD software, ensuring that all tools, molds, and dies meet exact specifications and are optimized for manufacturability, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product designers, and production teams to understand project requirements and constraints, ensuring seamless integration of designs into the production process.
• Prototyping & Testing: Oversee the prototyping process, ensuring that all molds and tools are produced according to design specifications. Conduct rigorous testing on prototypes to validate functionality, durability, and performance, and make necessary design modifications based on test results.
• Documentation & Quality Control: Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including detailed drawings, material specifications, and assembly instructions. Maintain accurate records of design changes, revisions, and approvals, ensuring that all designs adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality requirements.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and materials related to tool and mold design. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in tool and mold design or a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) with a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Experience with simulation software for mold flow analysis is a plus.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead design projects from concept to completion.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to present and explain design concepts to diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specifically in single-use system design and development.
• Knowledge of polymer science engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Lean and Six Sigma certification, with demonstrated application in process improvement.
• Experience in Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) to reduce costs and address quality issues.
• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process characterization using Design of Experiments.
